South Bronx may be ‘inn’ for new hotel

Owner of this Soundview lot at 1164 Wheeler Ave. hopes to find partner to build hotel. It's listed at asking price of $ 2 million, David Flusberg said.Google Maps A 70-foot-wide parking lot at 1164 Wheeler Ave. could be developed as a hotel, says its owner, who is looking for buyers or partners to build an inn in Soundview.

Another hotel could be in the works in the South Bronx.

A property owner in Soundview says he’s wooing hotel chains or investment partners to build a motor inn on the vacant lot he recently snapped up near the No.6 train line.

“This is a property we believe in, and we want to do something nice for the neighborhood,” said real estate investor David Flusberg of the site, now used as a parking lot, at 1164 Wheeler Ave.

Flusberg said he snapped up the land with fellow real estate pro Jonathan Yunason in the past year.

The 70-foot-wide lot is now listed at an asking price of $ 2 million, but the owners are open to finding investment partners interested in building a hotel, Flusberg told the Daily News.

The site’s existing zoning would allow for a seven- or eight-story inn with nearly 80 rooms.

The latest inn bid, first reported by the real estate blog YIMBY, could be the next part of a borough-wide hotel boom.

In December, a Queens-based developer filed plans to build a nine-story hotel with 94 rooms on E. 147th St. in Mott Haven.

A 12-story hotel is being built on Exterior St. and E. 146th St., and a 125-room Residence Inn by Marriott is set to open in Pelham Bay this year.
